New members of the Board of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission

By the decision of the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, the new members of the Board of Directors of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission are Dr. hab. Jan Szumski and Dr. Jan Wiśniewski.

Dr. hab. Jan Szumski

Dr. hab. Jan Szumski heads the History of Humanist and Social Thought Research Unit at the Institute for the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the 2017-18 academic year, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include the history of Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th century in the political, social, cultural and educational dimensions, the history of the eastern territories of the former Republic of Poland and the history of the Soviet Union and Polish-Soviet relations, with particular emphasis on scientific contacts.

Dr. Jan Wiśniewski

Dr. Jan Wiśniewski is the head of the Institute of Political Science at the Academy of Social and Media Culture in Toruń – Academy of Applied Sciences, and coordinates the activities of the Regional Center for International Debate in Toruń. Dr. Wiśniewski is an implementer of research grants at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Prešov in Prešov (Prešovská univerzita v Prešove). In his research he focuses on the civil war in Russia in the years 1917-1922 and the issues of international security, especially on the conflicts in the area of the former Soviet Union.

At the same time, Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, PAS and prof. Monika Kaczmarek from the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, PAS completed their service at the Board of Directors. Thank you for almost six years of wonderful cooperation.
