Graduation ceremony: Polish grantees 2021-22

On Friday, September 9, 2022, we celebrated our Polish Fulbrighters who have recently completed their grants in the United States. The graduation ceremony was held at Klub Niebo in Warsaw’s city center and gathered several dozens of people. This past academic year, around 60 Polish scholars, students and doctoral candidates have spent several months in the U.S. conducting research/ teaching/ studying on a graduate level.

Opening remarks were delivered by Justyna Janiszewska, Executive Director of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission, Jeannie Briganti, Cultural Attache of the U.S. Embassy Warsaw and Tomasz Piotrowski from the Ministry of Education and Science. As is the case with all of our graduations, the ceremony would not have been complete without a live performance by one of our Fulbrighters. This year, our recent graduate, Ewa Sułek, recited several of her poems encouraging us to move away from the ‘here and now’ for a few minutes and ponder upon some essential questions.

Graduations are very special events for our Commission staff. Talking to people who have just returned from their grants, sharing their experiences and impressions, full of new skills, hope, and often gratitude for the support we provided, fills us with pure joy each and every year. We are proud of all of our graduates and wish them further success in their future endeavors.
