So far, I have an incredibly positive experience and I am glad that I applied for this internship.

It has been four months since I started my project in Dr Odunsi’s lab at University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center. My research focuses on overcoming ovarian tumor-associated immunosuppression by oncolytic virotherapy.

So far, I have an incredibly positive experience and I am glad that I applied for this internship. Working here has given me a fantastic opportunity to evaluate my abilities in a different area of research compared to what I did during my studies. I feel like I have learned a great deal in this short amount of time: both theoretically and practically. I am sure that all the new skills will be extremely useful for my future career and will open a lot of doors for me.

I think that my favorite part of working here is being able to participate in the entire process of developing a new therapy: from simple plasmid construction, through multiple in vitro assays, to conducting in vivo experiments. I am looking forward to the next months of my research!

Natalia Bednarek is 2023-24 BioLAB Program participant at the University of Chicago.
