Aleksandra Szaniawska
Senior Promotion and New Media Officer, EducationUSA Adviser
My work focuses on developing communication strategies for and promoting Fulbright Poland grants and other projects and initiatives, managing social media platforms and preparing content for the Commission’s website. My tasks also include various types of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including organizing sessions/materials on DEI for American and Polish grantees, as well as the Commission’s Team. As part of my EducationUSA Advising, I also coordinate American Fulbrighters’ high school visits and engage in other projects.
Prior to joining Fulbright Poland in 2019 I graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo with a Ph.D. in American Studies (2017). My doctoral dissertation analyzes how contemporary black women artists challenge social and historical inequalities. During my doctoral studies, for 8 years, I designed and taught undergraduate courses (in African American literature, culture and history, American Pluralism, (post)colonialism, gender and sexuality studies, and performance and visual studies). I also worked as a Research Assistant, conducting research and editing articles for publication. My research was supported by P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (2011-13) and The Humanities Institute Fellowship (2015-16). During my M.A. studies at the University of Warsaw’s American Studies Center, I spent two semesters at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and participated in the summer institute organized by New York City’s The New School for Social Research. I utilize my experience with American higher education in promoting Fulbright Poland’s activities, as well as advising on various diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Outside of work, I devour books, write this and that, love traveling and rollerblading.
