Marek Pieczka

In Pepe’s lab we try to explain the molecular pathways of ILCs (Innate Lymphoid cells) development.

Greetings from Oklahoma City!

My name is Marek and I am a Ph.D. student who take part in the 2022/23 edition of the BioLab program. This summer I have reached MD. Ph.D. Jose Alberola-Ila’s lab in OMRF (Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation). In Pepe’s lab (how MD. Ph.D. Alberola-Ila is called) we try to explain the molecular pathways of ILCs (Innate Lymphoid cells) development.

Why do I decided to apply to the program? During my studies I have never taken part in any exchange program, so assumed it is high time to gather this kind of life and lab experience.

My 3 main goals are:

  • to learn how to work with laboratory animals,
  • to improve my cytometry skills,
  • to practice my English

…and, so far it works ☺

Not only work and research!

For polish people, the U.S. is a huge and exotic country with many possibilities to travel and face new cultures or mindsets. I am a Biologist, which is why I enjoy observing Oklahoma’s nature.
