Who I am:
I am an aspiring scholar of 19th and 20th-century Polish and Russian Literature. I completed my BA in English and Slavic Studies at Brown University. After completing my Fulbright grant, I will pursue a PhD at the University of Illinois-Chicago in Slavic Studies.
My Fulbright grant focuses on:
My Fulbright grant focuses on the Polish and Spanish works of Polish modernist Witold Gombrowicz. I am to treat his Spanish works not as mere translations but as serious works in their own right, which lend insight into the Polish originals.
I decided to apply for a Fulbright grant because:
I applied for a Fulbright grant because I was interested in an intensive research experience where I could embed myself in Polish culture. One of my larger research interests lies in Polish literature; a Fulbright grant in Poland seemed like a fantastic opportunity to immerse myself in the country of my research and carry out research where primary documents would be readily available to me.
After completing my Fulbright grant I would like to:
Upon completing my Fulbright grant, I will further my academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D. in Slavic Studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago, with a focus on 19th and 20th-century Polish and Russian. I hope to build upon the insights gleaned from my Fulbright research during my program.
