Natalia Musiał
Who I am:
I am in the 4th year of my PhD at the Intercollegiate Doctoral School of Biotechnology of the University of Gdansk and the Medical University of Gdansk. I work in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, focusing on quantitative proteomic analysis with use LC-MS. The aim of my PhD project is qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein composition of sialoliths to identify potential biomarkers of deposit formation in salivary glands to understand the process of biocalcification leading to the stones formation in sialolithiasis.
My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
My BioLAB work in the lab will be focused on developing novel Inside-Out biomarkers from their identification, generating synthetic antibodies to the biomarkers and determining their binding on tumor cells.
I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:
I decided to apply for a BioLAB program, because I would like to see how laboratory work looks in other countries, in this case it is USA. The United States are always created as a country of great opportunities and based on the other people’s stories and descriptions of available projects under the BioLAB program it seems that also applies to scientific work.
The participation in this program will bring me many benefits. Of course, in the first place there is developing skills and knowledge. I am very open to learn new things and I am sure there is no chance it could have happened otherwise. I hope I would be more confident after this program, both during contact with other people and during scientific work. What is more, the possibility of meeting other scientist is very important taking into account the perspectives for the future.
After completing my BioLAB Program I would like to:
After completing my BioLAB Program I would like to finish my PhD and continue my work in the field of mass spectrometry and proteomics. My goal is post-doc position at the one of the American or European universities.
