Prof. Monika Kaczmarek

Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Doctor of agricultural sciences. Alumna of the Fulbright Program.

Monika M. Kaczmarek is a professor at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Olsztyn, where since 2011 she is a head of Molecular Biology Laboratory.

Prof. Kaczmarek and her team works at the intersection of animal reproduction science, molecular biology, nutritional science and neurobiology to answer the question how early life events shape reproductive functions, lifelong fertility and reproductive success in mammals. Her interdisciplinary studies have taken her through the halls of Technische Universität München, Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich and many more.

Prof. Kaczmarek published dozens of scientific papers and promoted the number of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. She is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships from, e.g., Polish-American Fulbright Commission and Alexander von Humboldt & Hertie Foundations. She has provided a broad range of services to the academic community and to professional and governmental organizations, e.g., Polish Young Academy PAS, Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction and National Science Center Poland. She stays actively engaged in science communication and policy, as well as one-to-one mentoring programs for students.
