Who I am:
Hi, I am Mateusz. I was always fascinated with chemistry and liked to imagine how the matter interacts on atomic scale. When I first learned about cells, DNA, proteins and other elements of Life’s machinery I was hooked and decided to study Biotechnology. The degree got me closer to understanding the biochemical processes that shape and regulate every living cell. It also opened my eyes to the possibilities that this understanding brings and taught me that in this field we are mainly limited by our imagination. I am an open and positive person, I try to understand other people’s point of view and communicate my vision clearly – I think it is important among engineers. In my spare time I play chess and cycle.
My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
studying the TonB-dependent transporters which facilitate the active uptake of trace nutrients in Gram-negative bacteria. We will try to understand the conformational changes using a set of analytical methods including electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR).
I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:
I thought it’s a great opportunity that I should not miss. I want to work with state-of-art protocols and learn from the best.
After completing my stay on BioLAB Program I would like to:
keep learning, pursue further degrees and maybe look for a new job in the field.
