Mateusz Szczepaniak
Who I am:
Hello, I am a student pursuing a Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics at Jagiellonian University. I am deeply passionate about interdisciplinary research and approach scientific exploration with a curiosity-driven mindset.
My specific interests lie in cancer biophysics and bioinformatics, where I am eager to delve deeper into understanding the underlying mechanisms.
During data analysis I find great satisfaction in extracting meaningful insights from complex datasets, leveraging computational tools to uncover patterns and trends that contribute to our understanding of biological phenomena.
Traveling has been my hobby since childhood. I also enjoy immersing myself in the worlds of books and computer games.
My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
As a research trainee in Dr. Jonathan D. Wren’s team at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, I will primarily focus on developing software to analyze patterns, gene function and other biological scientific problems in public databases.
This will involve using Python and Qdrant, a vector database, to perform tasks such as data extraction, normalization, annotation, and deposition across various data modalities.
Additionally, I will work with Large Language Models to annotate this data, contributing to interdisciplinary projects merging bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and software developing.
I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:
I have decided to apply for the BioLAB Program because I relish challenging myself, particularly when presented with new opportunities for growth. My goal is to broaden my horizons, enhance my skills, and establish international connections within the realm of my scientific interests.
I believe that completing this program will not only expand my knowledge and expertise but also provide me with invaluable exposure to diverse perspectives and cutting-edge research initiatives, which will be instrumental in my future development and career.
After completing my BioLAB Program I would like to:
After completing my BioLAB Program, I aspire to further my scientific career by either pursuing a Ph.D. or start a company in the United States or Australia.
