Mateusz Fydryszewski

Who I am:
I am a first-year master’s student in Genetics and Experimental Biology at the University of Wroclaw. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in the same field, carrying out a practical Bachelor’s thesis. In addition to the designated course of study, I completed several internships and was actively involved in scientific work at my department. I have always been interested in biological sciences, and for as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a scientist. I am most fascinated by the world of neurobiology, especially molecular neurobiology, and how from simple chemical reactions something as complex as emotions and consciousness can arise. Other than that, I am just a student like any other.

My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
investigating how the liver’s sympathetic nervous system, particularly through the α1b-adrenergic receptor, regulates metabolic pathways like gluconeogenesis and fat oxidation during obesity. Using stable isotope tracing techniques and metabolic modeling, I will help uncover how altered neural signaling contributes to dysregulated liver metabolism and explore potential interventions.

I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:

Because I believe that this is the best opportunity to see what science and experiments look like in the best labs in the world. For ambitious people with dreams, there is no better opportunity than this program to see if the world of science is really for you.

After completing my stay on BioLAB Program I would like to:
I would like to use the knowledge and experience I have gained in my future scientific career. Get a PhD and work as a scientist the rest of my life and make great discoveries.
