Who I am:
I am a Professor of English/Creative Writing at Northern Kentucky University. I have three collections of poetry, two chapbooks, and publications in various journals such as Colorado Review, Copper Nickel, Rattle, and Cincinnati Review. My awards include Professor of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Graduate Research Mentor, and Outstanding Junior Faculty Member. More information may be found at www.kellymoffett.com.
My Fulbright grant focuses on:
I will be teaching two creative writing classes as well as gathering poems from Polish poets for a possible anthology of new Polish poetry.
I decided to apply for a Fulbright grant because:
I came of age as a poet by studying the great Polish poets. One of the greatest moments of my life was seeing Miłosz in person. I want to learn more about and meet with current Polish poets. Also, my life’s work focuses on creative writing pedagogy, and the department where I will be teaching in Warsaw is interested in developing their creative writing program. I can’t wait to be of use and to work with their students.
After completing my Fulbright grant I would like to:
My goal is to complete an anthology of current Polish poetry that I will use for teaching and that I will share with colleagues across the States in hopes that it will be adopted for use in their classes. I would also be sure to create zoom readings that introduce Polish poets to an American audience. Additionally, I would like to create a study abroad program in Poland for my U.S. students and to work on making Poland a destination for an Appalachian-Carpathian conference I am involved with.
