Who I am:
Currently, I’m 5-th year student at Warsaw University of Technology. Here I obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology and I’m continuing studying in Chemical Biotechnology major. I conduct research for my master’s thesis at the Instytut of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Science in the Laboratory of DNA Segregation and Protobacterial Life Cycle. My research focus on regulatory gene silencing in P. aeruginosa using CRISPR interference.
My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
I was offered to join Phoebe Rice’s Lab at The University of Chicago. This Lab focus on a moving gene elements and molecular basis of DNA rearrangement. The aim of my project is to extend the usefulness of large serine integrases by analyzing and engineering their controlling cofactor protein (RDFs). This will provide new toolkit for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology purposes.
I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:
For a beginner researcher, there is no better option, than getting into new project to expend your knowledge. I want to learn new thing, meet new people and see the world. Getting into fields I’ve never work in before and planing my own research project, surely provide me valuable experience. And, of course, a very nice side effect of living in the USA is an improvement in your English language skills.
After completing my BioLAB Program I would like to:
I’m not sure yet. Plan A i to do PhD somewhere in Europe and stay in the field of protein and cell engineering. Another possibility is to work for industry in R&D. I’m wonder about staying in UChicago one year longer, as well. Time will tell.
