Who I am:
I am a 5th-year Biotechnology student at Warsaw University of Life Sciences, currently finishing my Master’s degree. For almost four years, I have been an active member of my university’s student government, where I first learned about the BioLAB program. In this year’s edition, I will be joining Dr. Ed Perez-Reyes’ lab to work on gene therapy which I am very excited to do.

Outside of academics, I’m really passionate about cooking and spending time in nature. I love kayaking, hiking, and keeping exotic animals like snakes and arachnids. Traveling is another big part of my life, but definitely not the five-star hotel kind. My idea of a perfect trip is being deep in the jungle with no phone reception, just nature all around. Recently, I hitchhiked from Poland to Albania, and I absolutely loved the adventure.

My BioLAB work in the lab focuses on:
I will be working in Dr. Ed Perez-Reyes’ lab on developing drug-inducible genetic switches for gene therapies. While the lab mainly focuses on epilepsy and diabetes, the technology will have broad applications in medicine.

I decided to apply for a BioLAB program because:

It’s an incredible opportunity to work with talented scientists and learn from their experience. At the same time, I get to immerse myself in American culture and daily life.

After completing my stay on BioLAB Program I would like to:
I plan to pursue a PhD, as I have always wanted to dedicate my life to science. Gene therapies are a fascinating field, and I hope to contribute to their development as a way of giving back to the world.
